About Bridget Kirker...The doctors have found a 2.5cm tumor on the base of her brainstem that will require surgery. She is now at Saint B's and will be moved to another hospital to have the surgery. (Not known where at this time.) She is in room 628 and would enjoy contact. At this time the kids do not know the true condition of their mother. Will post more when known.
Joel, Melanie, Jackson and Taryn Smith are safe in Indian Wells. Our house is still standing, however, five or six on our street have burned. We know of several friends who have lost their homes, so it's pretty tough emotionally. Our thoughts are also with Mrs. Kirker and we are sending our thoughts and prayers her way. We're hoping we'll all be home soon!

I've just finished reading through the different school blogs. It's overwhelming that we are going through this again. My husband and I are safe in our new home in Yucaipa. Hi this is Bridget's sister again. My information was not all the way correct. I just spoke to Bryan and USC has a different outlook for Bridget. They are still running more tests. They are still trying to determine what the tumor is and if it is operable. She is at USC University Hospital and I will keep posting as I learn more. At this point, they are trying to find out what it is. She is in room 729A.
I am a teacher at Wrightwood Elementary School. We feel so blessed not to have been threatened by fires in our community. Our hearts go out to all of you in the other mountain range. The staff is interested in organizing a toy drive for the holidays in lieu of gifts for the teachers. Bridget Kirker will have surgery on Thursday for the bone spurs in her neck and then about a week later, she will have another surgery to biopsy the mass in her brain stem. Her doctor says that he will be able to do a biopsy if he takes care of the bone spurs first. She will have about a week to heal and be strong for the next surgery and then she will have a plan for recovery. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and thank you.

I spoke with Bridget this evening about 1 1/2 hrs ago. She sounded optimistic for her procedure tomorrow morning. I told her there were many well wishes on the Hoffman blog & the entire school was sending their love & prayers to her and the family.
Hi everyone, Bridget had her surgery today. She tolerated it well and the doctor was able to do all that he had hoped for her in this procedure. He did not have to fuse her neck, that is good. She will be in ICU for 2 days. Now she will begin recovery for the next step, which will be her biopsy. That will be in 7 to 10 days. Thank you again for all your love and support.

Some not so good news about Bridget today. After lunch her symptoms started getting worse. They did a CT scan and found out her tumor has grown 2mm in 4 days. At this time she is unable to talk very well. I've been trying to call some of her friends but found this to be easier today.
Update on Bridget. Got a call at 3:00am last night. She has been moved to ICU. It might not be a good idea to try to contact her. When I left last night she couldn't talk. I'll try to up date later. Every time I put something here I have to sign up all over again.
I was deeply saddened to see the news updated about Bridget. Many, many prayers are being sent toward the heavens for the entire family. Please know we are all thinking of you & keeping you close in our hearts.

Update on Bridget. They got the swelling under controll again and she is doing better tonight. Wednesday they will be doing surgery again. This time to try to biopsy the tumor and remove as much as posible. The location may not allow this. Thanks for all your prayers.

Bridget is doing a little better today. Surgery has been moved to friday. Doctor wants her to be a little stronger. Thanks to everyone for all the help. Couldn't do it without you.
